Filesets & Segmentation
File-sets can be defined as the ability to run a single CICS region that integrates different regional VisionPLUS® datasets. The purpose being to allow the online user of a VisionPLUS® system to enter one interface, and access different regions files. Though the file structure and data are physically separated, the processing logic can be one thus reduce code maintenance, redundant tasks, and possible errors. Also, it provides an ability to separate the batch processing.
File-sets provide the users the ability to access multiple VisionPLUS® dataset qualifiers with a single sign on. The batch processing for the multiple dataset streams will be done separately. This will allow for the time differences between the multiple regions with different update times to cater to these markets.
VisionPLUS® is capable of handling large volume of data and transactions. For businesses which run huge data, a mechanism is required to optimize the time taken to process the batch and make the online available for the users. File segmentation allows a file to be processed as a single file or as multiple segmented files in concurrent batch processing steps. Segmentation allows the business to logically separate the account data into different segments so that load is equally distributed, but still adhering to the same processing time.
